Cortina d’Ampezzo (BL), 13 February 2021 (MOREL)– Vincent Kriechmayr will open the men’s downhill, the queen of the races on the World Championship programme. Dominik Paris, who had the fastest time in the two official training sessions, will start with bib number 3. He is one of the great favourites, together with the Swiss  Beat Feuz, World Cup leader and winner of the two downhill races in Kitzbuehel, starting with number 7.

Reigning champion, Norwegian Kjetil Jansrud, starts with number 17. He won in Åre, ahead of team mate Aksel Lund Svindal, now retired, and Austrian Vincent Kriechmayr, fresh gold medal winner in the super-G.  

The Vertigine develops over 2,740m and had a maximum gradient of 61%, and average gradient of 31%. The start is located at an altitude of 2,400m and can be reached via a special staircase that leads to the top of the launch pad.  The race starts at 11.00, and an hour before the start, there will be a flyover by the Frecce Tricolori who will roll out the longest tricolor in the world. An exciting show in the heart of the Queen of the Dolomites. (ends)
